Diversity is about valuing individual difference. A diversity approach in the workplace aims to recognise, value and manage difference to enable all employees to contribute and realise their full potential. Diversity challenges us to recognise and value all sorts of differences in order to make the work place a good and positive environment in which to be. Diversity also makes us feel comfortable with and better understand our customers' different needs which in turn helps contribute to improving the services we provide.
Diversity Training Programme
This highly engaging and valuable experience was first developed by Wise Moves for the public sector and was designed to compliment the "classroom" learning approach and is easily incorporated into an existing or planned diversity training programme.
Our USP
We provide a meaningful and engaging cultural experience through cultural dance performance, delivered by highly trained professional dance artists in traditional costume. As part of their delivery the artist talks about the origins of their artform and its importance to their particular cultural and/or religious background. They discuss also what motivates and drives their culturally based behaviour.
The Benefits of the Programme
This enjoyable and unifying approach helps to break down cultural barriers and provides a valuable window into another culture. It is an excellent teaching tool for organisations in the public and corporate sector and gives delegates the opportunity to listen to and speak with a professional person from another cultural background about what motivates and drives their culturally based behavior in the home, the community and their working lives.
Length of Sessions
Sessions can last for as little as 30 minutes to an hour (or more) and can easily be slotted into your timetable for the day.
The Artists - Their Cultural & Religious Backgrounds
We have highly trained professional artists in dance and music respresenting many different cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds including India, Pakistan, Africa and the Caribbean as well as from the Muslim, Sikh and Hindu faiths.
The Performance
Delegates are treated to a colourful performance in the artist's cultural style of dance. For example, from Pakistan and India we have Classical dancers in Bharatnatyam and Kathak, Indian Bhangra or Bollywood; from China we have classical dancers from the Chinese Opera; and traditional dancers from Africa and the Caribbean.
As part of their delivery the artist talks about the origins of their art form and its significance in their country of origin. At the end of the performance delegates will be invited to get up from their seats and learn some of the dance moves in a highly enjoyable audience participation section.
The Cultural Talk
As part of their delivery the artist talks about their culture and, where appropriate, their religious beliefs and how these affect their behaviour in the work place, their home life and the wider community.
There is also a Q&A session so delegates will have the opportunity to speak with the artist and ask any questions they may have.
Meet & Greet
If you so wish, our artists can also be booked to meet and greet delegates at the start of the day or mingle with them during coffee break or lunch.
